Cyndi Lauper wasted no time setting the tone for her first-ever Las Vegas residency. During the Friday night opening of her run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a member of the audience began yelling at the stage while Lauper was in the middle of a serious introduction to her 1993 song "Sally's Pigeons."

"I don't know what the f-— you're saying, hon," Lauper, 72, says in a video of the incident. "But please remember where you are, OK? Because if you're trying to shade me, b---- , I'm gonna come for you. I'm from Brooklyn, and if I wanna f------ talk, I will do a tap dance if I f------ want." She paused briefly, adding, "Sorry, that, of course, is not part of my people skills."

The exchange prompted thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd, who were watching the first night of Lauper's debut Vegas residency.

The residency, dubbed Cyndi Lauper: Live in Las Vegas, runs through May 2 and follows her 69-show Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, which wrapped in August 2025. The limited five-date engagement at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace gives fans who missed the farewell trek a final opportunity to see her perform live. The theatrical production emphasizes art, color, and moving visuals in a Broadway-scale setting.

Lauper's "Grammy Salute" special, recorded at the Hollywood Bowl and aired Oct. 5, 2025, on CBS and Paramount+, underscored her enduring cultural prominence. The following day, she announced the Las Vegas residency. On Nov. 8, 2025, Lauper was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Among her numerous accolades, Lauper has won two GRAMMYs, an Emmy, and a Tony — three of the four major American entertainment awards. She has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, with a catalog anchored by "Time After Time," "True Colors," "She Bop," and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."
