The Clark County Commission approved the inaugural World Party Parade, a free procession tied to Electric Daisy Carnival's 30th anniversary, set for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, on the Las Vegas Strip.

"As we looked into this 30-year moment, we wanted to come up with something that would really put a flag down here so all eyes would be on Las Vegas," Zach Alpern, head of government affairs for Insomniac Events, said.

The parade will feature 15 floats split into five groups, accompanied by DJs, performers, and marching bands. Floats will depart the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, travel south on Las Vegas Boulevard, make a U-turn near Resorts World, and return to the Festival Grounds — a route that passes Circus Circus, Fontainebleau, Resorts World, and Sahara Las Vegas. The procession is expected to last about an hour and 20 minutes, followed by a culminating celebration at the Festival Grounds.

"Performing, dancing, engaging fans on the street, we expect to have confetti and were working through all those specifics, but any of the fun stuff people attribute to a parade should be very much the same as this," Alpern added.

Organizers expect roughly 30,000 spectators and project a significant economic impact from the event. "Several millions of dollars that is going to matriculate into hospitality into the casino properties, any type of retail, including also staying in the hotel rooms itself," Alpern said.

Law enforcement said the event is manageable. "Security with open gate screening is sufficient; we will be able to staff enough police officers for metro, and we use Henderson as partners as well," Sgt. Tim Frederick with LVMPD Special Events said.

EDC runs May 15-17 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, marking its 30th anniversary with more than 200 performers across multiple stages. Tickets for the three-day festival have sold out to approximately 500,000 attendees; a waitlist is available for GA and VIP passes.

Elsewhere on the Vegas music calendar, Sick New World returns to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on April 26, with sideshows April 25 at venues along the Strip. Presale tickets are available now, with a general on-sale to follow. Billy Idol will also launch a Las Vegas residency at Fontainebleau's BleauLive Theater, with shows Aug. 28-29 and Sept. 2, 4, and 5.
